Factor analysis of environmental culture and its relationship with types of capital (social, cultural and economic)

Abstract

Context and Purpose:Experts believe that without the formation of environmental culture, it is not possible to form a society with high environmental responsibility. Therefore, the aim of the current research is to identify the components of
environmental culture and investigate the impact of various types of capital (social, cultural and economic) on it. Methodology: This research was conducted with confirmatory factor analysis of the components of environmental culture and the impact of types of capital on it, using the survey method and questionnaire tools. The statistical population of the research is the citizens of Tehran and the sample size is 384 people. In the present study, the subjective dimension of environmental culture with three components of environmental values, environmental norms and environmental concerns and its objective dimension with three components of environmental behavior, environmental responsibility and action to protect the environment were considered. The major fit indices of the confirmatory factor analysis model of environmental culture show its acceptability.
Findings: The findings showed that environmental culture has a positive and significant relationship with social capital and cultural capital.
Conclusion:This means that improving the social and cultural capital of citizens can play an important role in strengthening people's environmental culture.
