Abstract
Context and Purpose: Today, humanity faces numerous environmental risks, including the degradation of natural resources, loss of biodiversity, increased greenhouse gases, and pollution of natural resources. As environmental pollution increases, human social life is also affected. Effective measures to control and prevent pollution help maintain the balance and sustainability of natural resources and improve the quality of human life.
This research aims to study the role of social and cultural capital in environmental responsibility and was conducted based on a survey method. Methodology: The researched society was citizens of Khoy City and 384 participants as sample were selected through cluster random sampling. The target population was chosen based on municipal districts, and then samples were randomly selected based on the population ratio of each district to the total population. The research tool was a questionnaire, and its validity was determined through expert judgment while reliability was measured by Cronbach's alpha coefficient. SPSS software was used for data analysis.
Findings: The results of the study show that social capital through social participation, social networks, and social trust have a positive relationship with environmental responsibility. Cultural capital also, has a positive relationship with ecological responsibility. The results of multiple regression analysis indicate that 11.1% of the variance in ecological responsibility is explained by the two variables of social capital and cultural capital.
Conclusion: According to the results, social capital has a greater role in defining environmental responsibility than cultural capital.
