Iran’s environmental conditions have reached a critical stage, manifesting in problems such as water and electricity shortages, excessive waste, and challenges in waste collection. One effective solution to mitigate these issues is fostering environmentally responsible behavior. This study aims to examine the impact of girls’ family cultural capital on their environmental behavior. The research method is quantitative, and sample are 382 female students. The results regarding environmental behavior reveal that 55.2% do not conserve water, and 20% make no effort to save water while bathing. 52.3% show minimal electricity savings, and 49.7% put little effort into reducing waste generation. 42.2% take extra plastic bags while shopping, and 11% do not try at all to reduce waste production. 53.8% make little effort to collect litter from their surroundings, and 8% do not collect trash at all after outdoor outings. Regarding family cultural capital, 29.2% of participants did not visit the seaside with their families in the past year, and 24.3% did not participate in short trips of two or three days. 41.9% feel misunderstood or rarely understood by their fathers, while 31.2% experience similar feelings with their mothers. In 51.8% of cases, parents choose travel destinations that their children dislike. The study also reports that 38% of fathers verbally insult mothers, and 35% of mothers insult fathers. Variables including father-child relationship, frequency of hourly and daily family outings, parental companionship, and parental violence significantly and positively influence environmental behavior, explaining 4%, 2%, 2%, 6%, 5%, and 6% of its variance, respectively.
